MY HERO ACADEMIA JAPAN CRATE
In June of 2018, Japan Crate, in collaboration with Funimation, created the My Hero Academia candy crate in celebration of one of the most popular anime titles to date. My role in this project was to create digital and physical assets and oversee production while keeping true to the title’s brand guidelines.
Working with our manufacturers in China, I was able to devise a method for translating provided colored art onto graduated Flexograph printing that imitated images out of a manga page. This was all new to me but I really wanted to bring something fresh to this design compared to our past boxes. The crate also came with an activity booklet we designed and bonus gift from Funimation.
ONLINE PRESSENCE | MARKETING
Online presence was an essential part of this project requiring a full campaign that aligned cohesively throughout our media platforms. I was able to make full use of the art Funimation provided for us in creating the website, advertisements, and videos provided they were all approved by both Funimation and their partners in Japan.
RETAIL FOLLOW UP
The crate was such a huge success that our retail partners over at FYE took noticed and asked for a version of their own to sell on their store shelves. I lead the production of its design along with its advertising assets in coordination with both Funimation and FYE.
