KATAMARI DAMACY JAPAN CRATE
Japan Crate’s follow up collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment was in celebration of Katamari Damacy’s 15-year anniversary and the release of the Katamary Damacy Re-Roll. I’ve learned a lot from working on partnerships at this point and was able to make use of my new skills to lead the production of this candy crate.
The first step into defining the overall look of this project was to create patterns that made use of the visual assets provided for us by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Luckily we had a lot of fun colors and characters to work with but they had to stay cohesive through our physical and digital assets. The initial challenge was making sure the visuals were translated effectively given the duotone limitations we had for printing box printing. Once we figured that out and got approval, it was all a matter of production and having fun with it! Like the other partnership Japan Crates, this came with an activity booklet we designed a bonus gift from our partner, along with a bunch of candy, of course.
ONLINE PRESSENCE | MARKETING
Designing the website was fairly standard for this project as I’ve already created a template for our partnership pages at this point. It was in online advertising that we started testing new methods like animation and video to appeal to a broader viewership, reduce CPA’s, and improve effectiveness in our social media ads. We also started working with influencers in the gaming community to appeal to niche audiences.
We made full use of the visual assets provided to us by Bandai Namco Entertainment, and assets we've made in house to make for dynamic, fun, and colorful visuals that really represented the spirit of Katamari Damacy!
